Texas Senator Fraser Files Bill on ERCOT Interconnections for Import/Export

On 3/4/15 Texas Senator Troy Fraser filed SB 933 relating to the authority of the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) to review transmission interconnections that enable imports or exports from the ERCOT power grid.  The bill provides that an electric utility or municipally owned utility  may not interconnect outside the ERCOT area without approval of a certificate of convenience and necessity by the PUCT.  The PUCT must find the application consistent with the public interest to grant approval.
